premount is american style.
low gun is international.

around 1960, skeet changed from lowgun to premount.

everything clay related use to be low gun to mimic hunting. lowgun is butt below the hip.
modified low gun is held just under the armpit.
you all will do all 3 5 oct..

I have a hard time imagining firing a shotgun with the stock under my arm. I think that your description above refers to the starting position and that normally a shooter would shoulder the gun before firing. But I think you also suggested that Winds might choose to fire from under her arm. Did I misunderstand? How would that work with respect to recoil management?

He is referring to the staring position in this case, before shouldering the gun.

For winds, with a smaller gauge gun, going under the arm may turn a sharp punch from recoil, into a rolling push. NOT really recommended with bigger guns.

as to shooting a gun under your armpit, havent you guys ever hear of shooting from the hip?
its not just six gunning. shotguns can be fired from the hip and with the stock under the armpit.

I think we're going to try to handle chow as a group with crockpots and snack stuff. Winds is coming to shoot and hoot like the rest of us. We'll tag team the food too.

ok...
and as mentioned in post 1, all im doing is providing the kitchen. being an old military leader, my only concern is to avoid the dilema where everyone ends up bringing the same cover dish.
thus i just suggest you all discuss it.
i think good food may give you all comfort in between shooting...to make up for all the misses!

Well, if we all bring the same dish then we can have a cook off and see who made whateveritis best.

It'll work out, Bobski. I'll get it all organized when it's closer to the S&H. If I organize it now, they'll all forget what I asked them to bring by Oct. 5th.
