Purchase Permit Legislation Update?

Hello again Michiganders!

So...the last I have heard, the reform to the states purchase permit had passed the house and was headed for the senate ( http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2012/6/michigan-house-votes-overwhelmingly-to-repeal-permit-to-purchase-and-registration.aspx ). That article was from June 13th and I was hoping someone here could maybe explain the lack of additional reporting.

Thanks in advance!

Hey! Yea same here! Moved from Ohio, what about you?

I miss the gun laws in Ohio...

I moved from Iowa about a month or so ago but grew up in south west Ohio. Ohio didn't have the CC law when I was a kid there but I moved to Indiana from Ohio that allowed CC with a little paper work and 4 days waiting for the card in the mail. good times... good times...

Franklin County has a 24hr turn around now (with exceptions for holidays and weekends) thanks to a sizeable dedicated division with the sheriffs department for that express purpose.

The other thing Id like to see changed in MI is this crazy notion that you dont have a right to protect yourself (cpl) in the first six months of residence UNLESS you had one in your previous state of residence...total B.S....

I have a bunch from my previous state of residence.
You'll have to PM me your location as it seems we are the only two Michigan residents on this site.

The Senate has been on Summer break. I think that they come back next week.

Fantastic! Thanks a bunch!

Any idea what the probability of this passing may be?

I know there was some kind of hearing on the proposed bill yesterday at the Hall of Justice in the Capitol complexion Lansing. The campus police (state troopers assigned to the Capitol campus) were gearing up to deal with open carry advocates but very few showed up and there were no problems with them. Shocker
