I'm 16 rn and I've been arrested once and was wondering if I could still get a handgun later on in my life and also the age requirements? I would appreciate the help , thanks

Depends what you were arrested for, how you were charged, (as an adult or juvenile), and if you had a conviction. Mass. Sucks for most firearms laws. 21 would be the normal age for handgun ownership. Don't know if rights will survive there til you are 21. I also don't know if your state has tighter restrictions based on arrests. You could probably find out with a call to the state police.

Federal law has it that you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun.
Now for your state, I would suggest that you take a look at the gun laws.

You must be 21 to purchase a handgun in Massachusetts. Depending on Where you live and what you were arrested/charged for, you may have No chance of becoming a gun owner. Doc was Pretty well on target.

better judged by twelve than carried by six.

3 counts of assault and battery at 16?! I don't know the circumstances but I hope you got that out of your system. If the charges were dropped then you should be ok by the time youre old enough to purchase a hand gun. Stay out of trouble man. You're young and you've got many good years ahead of you. One assault charge as an adult ( at least in my state) and you will never be able to purchase ANY gun.

Oh, and move out of Massachusetts by the time you do turn 21. Hell in the next five years Massachusetts laws could be even worse than they already are. Yikes.
