I wrote her a (what I thought was) friendly email poiitng out the problem with the "AR-15" at the massacre and the fcat that only pistols where found inside.
I was hoping she might use it to investigate further but got a somewhat defensive reply.

Sometimes I wonder:
We spend SO MUCH money on guns to have redudancy "just in case" they get outlawed.
We spend SO MUCH on extra ammo so we will always have a stash "just in case" its outlawed..
If we just spent half of that money on supporting the NRA, we wouldn't have to worry about maintaining a stash "just in case"

Not rude. They just held their info close to the vest, even with people they knew well.

If you were not born in Maine then you are "from away". Some Mainers will set that standard a couple of generations back. In much of the state there is no way to become a true Mainer. You either are or you are "from away".

That is typical of reporters. If you are not a major advertiser with the paper the only way to get through to them that they were wrong about something is either through a lawyer or through their editor. Good luck succeeding with either one of those though.

The reporter was born in Bronxtown, NY. That qualifies as "from away."

I call BS! Every time we are at the range or pit you see ar's and ak's or at least they are talked about.( Lot's of guys only shooting 22's right now). For economic reasons. Sounds like them trying to make it seem that no one cares if they are banned here.

Uh...yeah. As a current Maine resident, they probably don't have a single clue what is owned up here by their residents.
Maine has a very strong gun culture, and I've seen NO respect towards ANY federal law displayed up here.
Maine's "go screw yourself, were selling pot now" mentality applies to gun owners as well.
Hell...I bought my first AR this summer...in Maine.

So can you get pot in stores there like you can here in CA? (actually they call them "clinics").
