Step by Step how to apply for Illinois Carry Concealed License

I put together a tutorial with 31 screen shots on how to apply for your Illinois Carry Concealed Firearm License with screen shots and including your digital signature. Digital signature seems to be the hardest part, and for the non tech savvy who might not be able to digitize their certificates.

Thomas, has app process already started for "the people of IL" (as apposed to Jan 5)? Could you suggest local FP place (I am in Golf Mill area)? Could I PM you regarding training (and other)? (Sorry for a lot of questions at once...) Thanks in advance.

You can begin the application. Some people have told me that they got as far as 90%. Others told me that they couldn't get past 30%.

The state of Illinois has begun accepting instructor applications as "beta testers", which is how I was able to apply.

Feel free to email or PM me any questions or call, though email is best. 773-980-7037

I too live near Golf Mill, will have class in Desplaines February 1st & 2nd.

I sometimes have finger print vendors come to my classes. You should be aware that finger printing is optional and not mandatory.

I did the same and put it in my CCL course.

Congrats on your efforts. Its a shame the site chose to use Java as it has been suggested that users remove it from their PC's for security reasons. Not many sites use Java any more other than gaming sites.

I am a Java user and written a couple applets but use it in the mode "Ask to Activate" with Firefox.

You may want to include this link in your site for checking for the current version along with the default provided from Oracle.

DIGITAL SIGNATURES!!! Are you F****** kidding me. These are not common knowledge or simple to accomplish if you are not tech savy. I use digital signatures with PGP encryption on a daily basis and surprise surprise it doesn't work for some people in my global address book because either they didn't upload their certs correctly or the system screwed up. Either way digital certs are far from the norm and can be INCREDIBLY complex to handle. I wish they were easy it would take about 25% of my helpdesk support requests away.

/Java itself is still commonly used. There may be alternatives but that doesn't change the fact that developers have commonly chosen to use Java and will continue to do so for the next decade at least.

Yeah the digital signature part is what has alot of people up in arms, and rightfully so. Way more cumbersome that it needs to be. it's not the ISP's fault though, because Illinois uses the same digital signature for many of their websites.
