Default Illinois - Crook County - Chicago

Yep as the title says I'm unfortunate live in Chicago, I have all the required permits to own a firearm and I shoot at Illinois Gun Works pretty much on a weekly basis. I only shoot a Colt .45 for now.

Yes Sir!

You have my sympathy living in the socialist state of Chicago! The only way anyone should have to live there is if that is the place their company has assigned them. Otherwise there is a whole nation and other jobs! Oh excuse me excluding California, New Jersey and a couple of others. Unfortunately the corruption and socialist views of Chicago has spewed over into our Federal Government at the present time! Hopefully something will change soon. I am sorry but I do not have much hope for Chicago even with the security guard making some great changes as to personal protection and pistols in the home.
Good to hear from you and looking forward to seeing future threads and posts from you.
God Bless America and our Second Amendment!

Thank you Sniper03, always a part of my threads
I'm hoping to move West this year, looking at the Utah region.

That's true, once you get out of the city Illinois is a different world, at least for now.

I'm looking at more than just gun laws, if I move out of Chicago I'm moving to a state that doesn't rank top of the debt list and has lower taxes. Also if I move, I move to distance myself from the ticking bomb as far as possible, I'm not very optimistic for Illinois even though I know there are still a few good folks out there.

You make some valid points, Illinois is in bad shape in many ways. Picking a state to move to is a very major decision. When I moved out of Chicago 10 years ago I considered Texas and Nevada, but since I still have so many friends here and enjoy the change of seasons I decided to stay. Now I sometimes think moving out of state would have been a wise move. In any case when you leave Chicago, wherever you decide you'll be happy.

I grew up in Chicago so it's a love/hate relationship. In terms of big cities, it's a great city to live in and work in, but things are going to get tough; I see a bunch of little stores closing, a lot of people are going to face hardship and the answer will be increased socialism draining money from people still earning their living. My family owns our house, paid for, no debt and we're paying $10k in property taxes per year which is like paying a pricy rent on something we own. Plus the anti-2ND amendment stance isn't very promising for law abiding citizens.

Being an old guy I was lucky to grow up in Chicago as it was still a great place in the 50/60s. It was a great place to work and make money, and was once a great city of neighborhoods. It's truly sad to see what is has become. And don't get me started on property taxes since the workers have to support the slackers. I was lucky to get out and sell my condo on LSD before the housing market crashed. The only thing I miss are the restaurants and still venture back a few times a year to get a decent pizza. Illinois is now ranked the worst state in the Union in several catogories and yet our residents keep electing Democrats, unbelievable.

The problem is they want to make rules for the rest of the state. As in the mayors idea to impose registering guns and charging $65 per handgun for five years then $25 each for renewals. Guarantee my house will be for sale if that crap makes it.

they want to generate funds by imposing these fees on law abiding citizens when they could pass CCW and accomplish a windfall of money through permits.

By the way only two counties in the whole state voted for our goobernor, Just happened to be the two that counted the most.
Then they went and e;elected Obama's right hand crook Emanuel for mayor of crapcago.
