Don't visit. Don't drive through. Do what most truck drivers do and drive around...it'll take longer, but you'll be thankful for it.
very good advice

There are much better (and safer) places on earth to go to, like a war zone. Anyone that goes into Chicago, should have their head examined.

Yeah, right ... You'll see BigFoot much sooner than you'd find an honest politician, a road that's not under construction, or any inanimate object that's not taxed at least twice. If you ask nice and write your request on a $100 bill, the dead people of IL will vote for your candidate (at least once or twice).

I am planning a trip with a stop in eastern Ill. I always have my carry weapon with me. I undestand that is not allowed in Ill. Can I keep the gun in the trunk of the car while in the state?

Here's a website for gun law question in Illinois.

Thx for the post on Ill. gun laws. But the rules for a nonresident is not well spelled out? It seems if you don't have a Foid card you are taking a chance.

No. If you have a gun card from your state, your fine. Just have the gun and ammo separate from each other.

I have a concealed carry permit from my home state. We do not have firearms cards?
