The number shown on the "Approved" line of the website is --> N O T <-- your permit number.

It is the processing serial number (like "You are applicant # of #" ) and it didn't start at #1 (500 was the start number, I think).

The actual permit number will be a long number that includes your FOID number.

The good news is I got my permit last night, the bad news is I'm on call for work so I can't go anywhere (and can't carry at work either)

Will Illinois reciprocate concealed carry licenses with other states? I am trying to find out since the wife wants to go to the Grand American trap shoot in Sparta this summer. I have not seen where that has been addressed so far unless I missed it on the atty. gen. website, I would like to carry since I will be a very long way from home, if legal.

Illinois doesn't recognize any other permits. Some other states recognize any other state's (including IL), some states only recognize a permit carried by that states residents.

Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan all recognize Illinois permits.

If you go to Handgunlaw.us, they map out all the states, and have a tool that lets you put in all of your permits and it'll produce a printable map of states that recognize your permits.

They also have a pretty good summary, state-by-state, of the rules (must notify, signage, prohibited zones, etc.

They output most of their info in PDF format, so you can download it to your smartphone, Kindle, or other device for handy reference before you cross the line, geographically or legally.

Usacarry.com has some good info as well.

If Illinois will not recognize others state's permits,, other states should not recognize theirs, I think I will try to bypass Ill. and stay on Mo.,, nothing against the people in the state,, just the state's policies.

I am application 047, and I know applicant 005.

Perhaps it's a "special" number range; I applied for instructor on day two, my CCW app number started with "5000xxx" ... There weren't 5000 instructor apps on day one.

Regardless, app number has no relationship with the Permit number.

Mis-information, mis-information, mis-information, when will it ever end. Illinois recognizes all other State's permits. You are allowed to conceal carry in your car or truck, you just can not walk around outside with a gun concealed unless you have a Illinois non-resident CCL. You can drive to Sparta, store your firearm in your car/truck go to the event, come back and put your gun back on and drive away, just like you do at work, the post office or any other public sporting event. (now who is being a jerk, Illinois?) And if you are entered in an event, you just need to take your gun(s) cased & unloaded into the event and open them at the range.
