I live far enough away to feel safe. If I lived in Chicago, I'd be out of there that weekend. Or holed up in my house.

I was listening to the radio on the way home from work this morning. The radio personality was interviewing an OWS member who is helping to organize the protesters for the NATO summit that will be here in Chicago in a couple weeks.
The protesters are asking for people to let them stay in their homes or camp in their backyards while they are in Chicago to protest. Here's one article from a Chicago newspaper with a plea to open your home. They promise to not get high in your home. LOL

But then the radio host opened the phone lines and people called in to talk to this OWS person who was asking people to open their homes to the protestors. The calls were hilarious. People were calling and saying, "I know where you can stay..........STAY HOME." Others said, "You can stay in Lake Michigan and take a bath while you're in the water." "You can stay with my Mother-in-law. Maybe she'll leave us alone for the weekend." "If you had job, you wouldn't have time to come to Chicago to protest at the NATO summit." And it went on and on. I thought it was pretty funny. The OWS guy said many of the protestors work 60-80 hours a week. I highly doubt that. It was just a very interesting segment of the radio show. I was hoping it was podcast but I can't find it on the radio station website.

This sucks for me. I have an extra drill this weekend because my unit is flying aerial security for the summit.

Courage is not the lack of fear, but the willingness to continue despite that fear.

Isn't it interesting that there are pre-planned riots and people have been warned months in advance?

NATO protesters already started at it today. There have been 12 arrests and the NATO leaders don't even get into Chicago until tomorrow. The ACLU has 50 lawyers interspersed with the protesters to be sure their civil rights are not violated in either their protesting or arrests. I wonder how this will all end up by the Monday night. I hope for no violence or damage to property this weekend. I have a special interest in following Andy Thayer who is one of the main protest organizers. I've heard him interviewed on a couple radio stations and I am not very impressed with him at all. I do believe he's looking for trouble. I hope he doesn't find it.

Well I'm still in Chicago, not quite near the epicenter of the NATO sumiit. I live up north and was biking to North beach to meet some friends and there is indeed more police presence, some helicopters flying in the sky etc. Here's a picture I snapped while biking 2 hours ago:
