I will be relocating to Jacksonville from the Tampa area in November. What are the best shooting ranges in that area? I use the Shoot Straight facilities in the Tampa, Lakeland area. Or the Firing Line range in Port Richey now. Looking for more of a good, friendly public range (although I do not mind paying a membership fee) I usually practice with pistols. However need one that allow 7.62 long gun usage also.

I work in Jax, but live an hour out into the country.
Bullseye is an indoor range on the eastside that seems to get good reviews.
Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club on the westside has a large following, is an outdoor range, and has seperate areas for rifle and handgun. Membership is $100 per year.
West of Jax in the Lake City area is a state run, unsupervised, outdoor range in the Osceola National Forest. Free.
I live close to the state line and shoot in Georgia at a WMA just south of Waycross. Outdoor range, covered firing line, 40 yard side, 100 yard side. Unsupervised. Cost is the price of a Georgia Outdoor Recreation Permit - $20 per year.

Not too far north of Jax is the town of Yulee, and I have actually used the small indoor range at 2nd Amendment Gun shop there. Good people as well.
It's only 4 positions and about 30 yards deep, though. I was alone each time I was there.

Do your homework. Jax is not a safe place sometimes.

Gateway is on the Westside. As already mentioned, it's an outdoor range.

Bullseye, also mentioned before, is an indoor range that is more in town. Some would call it Southside, some east. If you look at a map, it's at Atlantic and University.

I belong to both places, so obviously I like them. Both places have their detractors as well.

There's also a place on Beach Boulevard called Gun Gallery. I prefer Bullseye to Gun Gallery because there are more lanes, they are better lit, and there's more room behind the lanes.

There are a couple of outdoor ranges around St. Augustine. Ancient City Shooting Range (I used to be a member) is pretty nice, but it's expensive. There's also an FOP range (I don't know their website, if they have one).

I've never been to the 2nd Amendment range mentioned above, but I hear nothing but good things about it. There are a couple of indoor ranges that are supposed to open in the near future.

What part of town will you be working in? That might help you decide where you want to live and where you want to shoot.

I live in Orange Park (just south of Jax on the west side of the river) and work on the Southside (which is why I belong to two ranges).
