There is a large military presence in the NW.
But that helps the job market.

I am in Ft. Lauderdale but I really want to move to the Jacksonville area. My buddy lives up there and says it is more like South Georgia than North Florida, he loves it.

Depends on what you want to do. I like to raise citrus and some tropical fruit trees and plants, so I live in the Fort Myers area (SW Fl). Between here and (N) to Port Charlotte is lots of land and housing priced reasonably. Tropical fruit (such as mangos) can't be easily grown north of Fort Myers, but citrus is ok.

Also we have access to a very nice shooting range just off I-75 near Punta Gorda.

I was raised in Ohio, but have been here 25 years now and I wouldn't live back north for anything!
