Default Zombie Fetish

What the f*&# is with this zombie obsession everyone has nowadays? At first I figured the genre was just gaining some steam and would die again. Now Discovery Channel did a special on surviving a Zombie attack, their are serious books devoted to fighting the undead, and I can't even count the amount of zombie related posts on this board. I'm not against the popularity, it just puzzles me. Could someone explain to me the skyrocketing obsession this nation has with animate corpses.

For the most part a zombie apocalypse is simply shorthand for any SHTF situation. The recent infatuation probably has alot to do with the economy, the state of the country and peoples' general lack of optimism over what the future holds.

I agree with jpyle it is easier to think about shtf survival vs zombies than consider the actual issues and near brink disasaster socialistic liberal ideas have brought upon the country.

The last time we had a national disasaster nearly as bad as what the current administration has done was the disasaster of the new deal brought on by roosevelt. At that time the nation focused on gangsters to distract themselves from the pit roosevelts policies kept digging us into deeper and deeper.

Today we focus on zombies to distract us from the policies obama is using to dig us deeper.

For fdr it was ww2 not his disastrous raw deal that brought america from the edge. Obama doesnt have a world war to.do that for him.

Im annoyed by this as well. Ive had an obsession with zombies for many years. Collected anything I could find that had even the word "zombie" on it... books,magazines,buttons,figurines,movies,etc.. I even have my entire back tattooed in a "zombie apocalypse" and another huge zombie on my left arm. People always thought I was strange for this.. and now im just part of the "trend". It drives me crazy. My obsession isn't just about a possible apocalypse, its for the zombie itself... I just know that when all the trendies move on to something new, ill still be here. I only wish they'd hurry the heck up.

Its amusing to talk about a zombie apocolypse and imagine for a few minutes what could happen and what you would do if there ever was a zombie threat... Like i said, "imagine".. The people that REALLY want something like tht to happen dont know what they are asking for.. Its not just walking around wearing cool tactical clothing and shooting zombies with badass guns. Yes there would be that but what happens whenever food, water , and ammo start running short and you need to scavange for anything and everything..i wouldnt want to put my wife and kids through a mess like that

with some of the bio weapons and other sciences going on it more possible now that a zombie SHTF would happen then ever before, most of the reason I'm into it is I love horror movies and zombie shoots are fun.
