#1 John Moses Browning
#2 Eugene Stoner
#3 Samuel Colt
#4 Mikhail Kalashnikov
#5 is kind of open, there are many that could fit here.

I actually have the top 5 and 2 more. Who were very astute regarding the designing of the weapons we even carry or use today.

Benjamin T Henry Winchester Lever Action Designer (working for Oliver Winchester)
Samuel Colt Repeating Revolvers/Cyln. Guns/Semi Autos
Richard J Gattling Pesently today even utilized in aircraft weaponry and other systems)
John Browning Machine Guns/BAR/1911/Hi-Power and others
Eugene Stoner Semi-Auto Rifles AR/M-16/M-4 others
Gaston Glock Polymer Semi-Auto Pistols
Mikhail Kalashnikov AK Family Weapons/Rifles & Carbines

I'm a bit surprised to see Oliver Winchester on many lists.

He was a businessman and manufacturer, but not a designer.

That would be Benjamin Tyler Henry in the early years, and then
a long run of designs bought from JM Browning.
