I like the copper backsplash. How will you keep it from weathering?

Thanks folks, Its just what I do in my off time with a 180+ year old house and about 4Ksq' to renovate. I sprayed the copper with a poly and it just wipes clean. I love copper as a design element, it has magical anti bacterial properties and that cant hurt in a kitchen. Ive got a buddy who owns a small sawmill and hes always coming up with weird wood for me. I did my living room with Red Elm he found down in the woods, its knarely and kinda twisty but has gorgeous figure.

We wrapped the ridge cap on my sisters house in copper. It looks good.

that shelf is an awesome idea.. to me it seems it need a little better opening sequence and key. perhaps a little smoother. but the idea rocks!
i did not like that you had to open the middle and the end to be able to open the drawers. each should have be able to open alone. looks like a better "key" for opening too.

Definately James Bond cool, I like the concept of the wall unit but im not the biggest fan of storing papers and long term storage of firearms in a wooden cabinet. I feel more need for fire protection on that stuff. It is a great way to keep a redi-piece close but not in sight! The access methods weren't highly apparent but the voids being so numerous were noticeable. The element of hiding in front of you is tough to pull off if the furniture doesn't make geometrical or architectural sense.

All that said, its a nice piece, just wouldnt fit well for me, still very cool.

I think it is very well thought out. 99% of the population would never guess it is there. But I personally don't have space for a huge peice of furniture like that. I am a woodworker too. This has got me thinking. I am in the middle of remodeling my kitchen. I put in a new tile floor and built all new cabinets on the bottom. I am still working on the top cabinets. I might incorporate a hiding place for a pistol above the fridge or something like that.

Exactly, you could make something to accommodate your individual life.
