that is a great idea, and i think i could truly love that as well. self sufficiency basically. work for what you need, and be on your own clock. my only problem, i'd be too tempted to sit on the porch and drink beer on the nicest weather days.

awesome! ok, i'm going to give out one of my "idea man" ideas to you.

i think it would be cool to connect 2 gun stores together, both with different themes. #1) the black store: would focus on the mall ninja and tactical crowd. it would be an ultra cool, modern and sleekly designed store. it would sell black weapons and WIDE selection of accessories, including survival and tactical hand held weapons. the waiting period for your gun would have an awesome lounge area and play flicks like terminator and matrix constantly. #2) connected to the black store would be good in wood. this store would focus on western, old military, and basically beautiful wood stocked/grips firearms. also specialize in leather holsters and fancy pocket knives. it would have an old school western and war movie motif. the lounge would be running old war and cowboy flicks. all the employees would be cowboys.

if you use this idea, i will only require a 10% take.
Hawk, what about the people that aren't mall ninjas or Hunter/cowboy types? You also need the "Softer Side," catering to city types that are new to shooting and "only want something for defense." Bright lights, soft colors on the wall, gentle, knowledgable sales people and only smaller guns in less punishing calibers! .38 Special revolvers would rule the day and every gun would come with two hours of instruction on the range!

I'm kinda liking this "Idea Guy" concept.

dammit, tekgreg! there ain't enough room for 2 idea men in this town!

we could call your store "in the closet" and hide it somewhere in a seedy part of town...that way, like a porn store, none of your respectable & irrational gun fearing neighbors would see you buy a "dangerous gun" . we would target newbies and liberals and guys who have wives that hate guns.... y'know those who haven't come out of the gun closet yet.

Can't you take them as part of your yearly required continuing education?

Yes...Thats my plan. I need an ER cert. and a couple that are specific to EMTs that are not included in the RN program.

Like the "closet" idea, but no self-respecting liberal would be seen in those places. We need something that would attract their pseudo-intellectual tastes and somewhere they visit out of habit. I know! We could look for a place that's between an art gallery and a Starbucks - it would trap them better than a net!

I'm actually working up to it right now. It is rather slow going, and I keep hitting snags tho...

I want to get my FFL, and manufacturers license. I want to open up an LGS/range where I also manufacturer my own firearms. I want to focus on AR's, 1911's, AKM's, and possibly bolt rifles.
I haven't thought of a name for my shop yet, but I've got plenty on time to think about it. I'm stacked full of ideas for my firearms, and honestly can't wait to get started.

I'm about to start learning CAAD, and Solid Works to try and stay ahead of the game.

If any FFL holders or shop owners would like to share some wisdom, I'd be in their debt.

My dream is to own a brew pub with an adjacent coffee shop. The coffee shop would roast their own beans and serve a few selections from the pub, and the pub would serve good quality food with ingredients sourced from local farms, and even a back yard garden. The brewery would focus on my interpretations of different styles, while still serving beers from other breweries as well.

One day....
