Meh, wouldn't care if ya did. I've never seen any of his porns. Come to think of it, I believe I explained to you who he was while we were sitting in my office one day.

I don't have TV. But I used to. I've seen him on regular local programming, in newspapers, magazines.

He's a turd. Despised by many for being a disgusting freak.

IIRC, he did go right to the limits in one plane he tested. i think he had the record of being the first of going to edge of space in manned craft at the time. IIRC, he was also asked to join the space program for the Mercury project, but he declined.

I believe it was the X1 rocket plane, the one in which he broke the sound barrier. I THINK that was the exact same flight where he crashed and almost burned his face off when his oygen feed caught on fire.

He went high enough that there was no atmosphere to interact with his control surfaces. IMO, if that ain't "space", it's close enough.

you may be correct. he set a lot of records in different aircraft. IMO, a lot of what he did as a test pilot helped the space program at NASA. he was pushing the envelope in aircraft that had never been done before.

he is one person i would really like to meet and talk to.

Yeah, I remember this conversation. I didn't live under a rock, I just never watched TV or cared about anything useless like that.

I didn't care either. But as a kid, I did watch some tv. And of course being in the service, if there was anything you didn't know, someone would make sure you lost your innocence.

I didn't think beastiality even existed until one night when I was looking through a thermal scope in afghanistan. Damn afghan sheepherders...

I met him in 2007 at an Airshow dinner. Very honorable man. Treats everyone exactly the same.

Did you have a Barrett or an M-21 attached to that thermal scope? I'd have made sure he never fornicated with anyTHING or one ever again...

Nothing, actually. We were issued one scope per platoon for night observations.

I could be very much wrong here but I think he was rejected to be part the space program because he did not have a college degree. He was just an incredibly talented pilot with near perfect instincts in a cockpit.
