Yes, I lose some of the cool factor because it's an auto, but one does what one must.
A kid I know made a shifter for his Jeep out of a jet fighter stick. Not sure where he got it, but it was a fairly modern one as I recall. He made the fire control buttons operate various things too. Ultimate cool!

I figure a .50 BMG shell would make a good column shifter handle.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

I'm pretty set on a 1911 style pistol grip shifter. I don't have the locking type shifter (because the shift pattern isn't straight line like the older autos, I guess?), but if I could install a locking type, that a trigger unlocks, that increases the cool factor. My little midsize family sedan desperately needs added cool factor. It looks sporty on the outside, but that's where the cool ends. It does qualify as "nice" though. Little brushed aluminum accents all over the place, synthetic leather and "soft touch" surfaces covering the dash and everywhere else...

What I like about my car is that I can fit a bunch of ammo in the trunk. The guns of course ride in the back seat.

You might be a gun nut if....

....someone offers you a shot and you ask the caliber.
....your toothbrush doubles as a chamber brush.
....all your pets (or kids) are named after gun companies.
....your girlfriend unzipped your pants thinking you were happy to see her only to find your Colt (Anaconda of course!).
....you buy ammo because its on sale and then have to buy a gun in that caliber.

If you spend $100 to build a trunk just for your ammo...
