I'm not even sure what my buddy at DD regularly does. I know he does range/torture testing, and they recently let him design a gun from the ground up, but I don't know what his regular job description is.

I may buy two 1911's in the near future. One for someone else, and a broke down POS for him to tinker with.

I give the boy an extended slide stop that has a hard 45° angle on the front, and two 45° on the rear.

He rounded off all the angles, and this is what he gives me back.

I need to dress it up a bit, and hit it with some cold blue.

And this is where it was hanging up on the new holster.

So is life. Just be proud and know he probably learned a lot of that from you.

I am proud. More than anything just because he took an interest in it. Seriously, he could've botched it in the extreme and I wouldn't have minded. As I mentioned, the original slide stop was in the car with my cleaning gear. I did go get it so I could give the gun a good thorough cleaning while he worked on that.

Now he wants to know if there's anything else he can do with it. I should've just waited and let him clean it too. He knows how to field strip it, but his fingers aren't strong enough to do it. He presses the plug against the edge of a table and leans into it while reaching toward the front to turn the bushing.

Do you have one of these bushing wrenches? My gun came with one and it makes it extremely easy to strip the gun.
