Did they use them on aircraft? If they did, a plane was probably shot down and its gun became one big ass projectile.

I'd hate to be the guy who has to fix that big gun.

Found out a little info on that pic. It was taken aboard the USS Astoria CL-90. (says the link in the pic). I couldn't find that pic on the website, but hey have a LOT of that ship's history written down and photographed. It was pretty cool. www.mighty90.com

Okay! 20 gauge shell stuck in the barrel. Yes indeed. I'm definitely adding this later. Guess we haven't seen it all yet. The paper towel doesn't surprise me. And I did see a cleaning patch get stuck in an M4 once. Im glad to see this isn't over yet.

Thanks for the great read Delta, I hold a special place in my heart for my fellow LEO's dark sense of humor! I don't have any untoward items coming out of firearms, but in a house with 3 small children, my wife and I are constantly finding strange items where they have no business being. The most common culprit is when I clean out our central air vents....I will pull out pens, childish drawings, loose change, toys, and a variety of half eaten foods. Ahhh so that's where the dinner you said you finished went. I guess I should really conduct weekly inspections on the air vents instead of annually.

Of course when anything I'm looking for is missing, the air vents are the first place I look.

Not exactly what you mean, but when I was a novice reloader and trap shooter, I had a shell with no or not enough powder go off in my shotgun and the wad got stuck about half way down the barrel. I did not understand why everybody was yelling at me, but I was at least smart enough to not to do anything while being yelled at. Knocked the wad out and finished the round better educated. Paid better attention while I was reloading, and while I have had the occasional mishap, I have never come close to the destruction the first incident could have caused.

Alright we added a crazy one today. A machine gun. Who the hell puts a machine gun in the barrel of an anti aircraft gun? Like really? That thing doesn't have enough bad crap coming out of the barrel that we have to add a little surprise to it all? I thought cops put some dumb crap in their barrels, but only the military would think to put one gun INSIDE of another gun. Freaking stupid.

I don't think the MG was in there by choice.

When I was a young aspiring Technician in a TV Shop (1984), a commercial came out where a kid pushed a PB Sandwich into a VCR. From that day on, the first thing we had to check is for foreign objects. I found everything from Grapes to a bag of pot inside! We made so much money from that commercial!
