Default Wow unexpected day off!

I work 4 on, 4 off. 12 hr. shift. Today was my first day back and the mill wasn't running when I got there at 03:00.
Seems we ran out of rock. The mine won't catch up for 2 days so I took a vacation day for Tues. Breaks up the week nicely.

Nice! If you had not taken vacation day would you have been paid to stand around doing nothing?

I got the day off too! Worked 50 hours last week.

I'd be paid but I wouldn't be standing around. At my age and after massive heart surgery, I'm not about to start swinging wrenches with maintenance. There's nothing "light" about their work in an ore mill.
I'll take the vacation day.

Sounds like a good decision to me!

That right there is a miserable job. I worked for a few months at a rock quarry. I made hot asphalt. At any given moment, there were a hundred things threatening to break, and another hundred that needed maintenance. Granted, all the machinery at this place was pretty ****ty. None of these chores was easy, or particularly pleasant. Several I outright refused to do, due to the fact they were dangerous. Day off sounds good.
