Whats the point in having a .50 cal and shooting it at such a relativly close range anways? I mean come on if you have a gun capable of such long range back it up! Also at the end I heard them say it was an iron target, is iron prone to ricochets? __________________ Perhaps, if I am very lucky, the feeble efforts of my lifetime will someday be noticed, and maybe, in some small way, they will be acknowledged as the greatest works of genius ever created by Man.

All the iron targets I've shot at I would think a .50 would penetrate. __________________ Not Registered? Register now! - It's free and helps the community grow. | Likes Given: 1

Do you realize how perfect everything had to be for that to happen?
Type of metal, angle of plate to rifle. type of load he was using, ect, ect.
The 50 BMG. military load will penitrate over 2" of "armor" plate. |

The relative angle between the target and bullet would seem to play the biggest factor. Despite the fact that the .50 BMG round is a large projectile with a lot of velocity if it hits at the wrong angle it will deflect. __________________ Perhaps, if I am very lucky, the feeble efforts of my lifetime will someday be noticed, and maybe, in some small way, they will be acknowledged as the greatest works of genius ever created by Man.

Deflect yes, but NOT come straight back! The angle of the target appears to be 90 degrees to the shooter, if it is that little black square that lines up with the ricochet bullet trail in the dirt. __________________ Gun Control is a MUST! If you cannot control your gun get one you CAN! |
