i have can full of these. what puzzles me is how do they attach? obviously one end is threaded, but there is no way to put a tool on it to tighten it. and the other end is a stud?

Why is the threaded end also slotted? Almost like a spike rivet, but doesn't come apart.

They remind me of bolts used to put up walls that you don't want people to take down. Like rest room stall doors and walls.

But I'd say it's more a the stud is the working part of the fastener so they don't want to messed up with tool marks.

They look very much like the threaded stud that comes with the clips that hold a stainless steel sink in from the underside of the countertop, is there a slot in the end opposite of the large end ?

Edit: after zooming in, I can see the slot............I am 100% sure that this is what they are.
