ok, yes its a vise/clamp of some sorts, but what kind of project would it hold? its only 12". is it used in a drill press or mill?

In the manufacturing processes , they make all types of accessories. To aid in mass production and most of these devices are to aid in repetitive production modes , all pieces the same...!

PS:this is obviously from a much larger machine from the days of old...!

flashing would make sense. im going with flashing brake.
