Apparently the SCOTUS ruling on attaching a GPS tracker not being allowed is being rationalized by pinging phones?

Pinging and triangulating are slightly different.

Am i just anti-cellular, or is anybody else wondering whose call they would take on their way away from a personally-perpetrated homicide? I might have an attorney's number in there, but i don't think i would be on the phone in the aftermath. Eventually, i think people will carry their phones in little faraday-caged cases, like their passports.

Seriously, that is almost as bad as when a girl takes a call or text during sex, or so i hear (worse if it is from her mom).

Look up E911. Depending on a few factors like your carrier and technology in your phone, GPS data can be obtained by authorities remotely. Who knows what was used in this case but it can be done.

Here is a link on how your phone can let other "people" know where you are. It is the laymans explanation and easy to understand.
I even think I got it. That why I ordered the cell phone below in pic.

Ive heard of that before, there was a public school system here in oklahoma that wanted to know how their students behaved after school hours so they hacked into all the web cams to monitor them. There is so much that is wrong with that its rediculous, Someone should have been criminally charged for that.

That happened in PA as well. I believe someone was charged after it was discovered what was going on.

Its not a wire tap. Its a safety device on all new phones that CAN be turned off but you need to know how to get in the phone to do it. Its not easy to find unless you know where to find it. Its usefull if say you call 911 and have no clue where you are they can look up your gps location and send help. I dont see why the police couldnt use it to find you if they knew it was you that did a crime but it would require a search warrant to be able to use it for that. For the 911 dispatcher to use it they must get your verbal consent (every 911 call is recorded and saved for a long time) to turn on the locater which is in turn sent to the MDT of the officers in route to your location.
