I would hate to be in such a pinch with money that I would have to resort to going door-to-door and attemping to sell things, I understand that it's just someone doing thier job but most of those guys are too damn pushy. Car saleman are about the worst of them all.

It depends on state law, and town ordinances. You may want to do a quick internet search--most states & towns are online now, and frequently you can find your laws & ordinances there. I'm not an attorney (although I work with a lot of legislation) so I don't want to give you wrong advice. My assumption is that a No Tresspassing sign could not hurt even if its not all that effective, because it does give you something to point out.

As an aside, in my state-CT, we had a horrific home invasion/murder last year. People sometimes think I am paranoid because I do simple things to protect myself--don't leave keys in car, always have my phone handy etc, but these things do happen everyday.....

I added the story below. To everyone: this was a random attack---the two scums waited in a parking lot for victims. Mrs Petit and her daughters went shopping at the local grocery store, and they followed her home--from the parking lot! They simply watched them and figured they would make good victims...

They waited until dark and broke into the house. They spent all night beating and terrorizing the family. They raped & strangled Mrs Petit, and then raped her two young daughters---then poured gasoline over everything and burned the house down--the daughters were tied to the bed and died in the fire. Mr Petit--severly beaten, managed to escape his ropes and got out of the house as it went up.......

See the entire story here: http://www.courttv.com/news/2007/0807/komisarjevsy_ctv.html

Read it and realize that this was in a nice neighborhood, on a regular day and nice well respected people. Its truly heartbreaking...

NOTE---as they set the house on fire--the Police were outside waiting--the police did not act in time to save the family.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those time share people. My wife and I went to Gatlinburg in May for our honeymoon and we couldn't walk 50 yards without being stopped by someone wanting to let us stay in a 5-star hotel for a week so they could waste 10 hours trying to talk us into buying a $100,000 time share. I finally told the woman that I make $12.50/hr and drive a 20 year old truck and that we weren't interested.

Hadn't read the news release before my post!! My bad! Dr. Petit should be given at least two hours alone with each of the convicts with a 4' piece of 3/4" black iron pipe and a blow torch!

Straight out of a Charles Bronson movie! Too bad there aren't any modern day Charles Bronson's...televised executions might help.

There is nothing wrong with being cautious and ever vigiliant.

That is a truly horrific story. Makes you wonder what drives some people to do such a thing. Those guys shouldn't even have been given a trial. If the police caught them coming out of the place, they should have just strung them up, or shot them down, right there in front of the Channel 5 news cameras....

I woke in a cold sweat last night-- that true story gave me one of the worst nightmares I've had in while. Those two guys are monsters--- evil.

Next time someone asks me why my 1911 is never far out of reach when I'm home-- I'll just refer them to this story. Scares me even though we live out here in the sticks, and in a nice area-- there are monsters like this all over (and the numbers grow every year)I can't imagine how that Dr. can go on, I bet he wishes he had died with his family. Poor guy.

The green needle is not punishment enough for those SOB's-- come to think of it there's no punishment enough for those guys (until they get to hell).

They bring these guys to court in bullet proof vests and with a huge police escort in order to protect them. The angry throngs would rip them apart if they ever got the chance. In this case--there is NO question of guilt, they were caught red handed escaping from the scene, video survelliance got them at the bank in her car, and Dr petit identified them.

These creeps broke into a home-bludgeoned the husband in his bed, terrorized/beat the entire family all night, took the wife out to the bank in the morning and forced her to withdraw all the cash, stopped by the gas station on the way back to buy gasoline to ignite the fire, then ended with raping and strangling the wife, beating Mr Petit to near death with a bat, then raped the little girls (they were CHILDREN) and set their beds on fire and left them to die from the flames.

These are not human beings, and they deserve to be crushed to death under a steam roller.....

There are those people who say call the police, don't own a gun. Well--the police were right OUTSIDE as the children were suffocating in the smoke.

It still boggles my mind.

One of the partners at my eye doctors office asked me the following week, if I could bring in the Keltec that I carry. I brought the keltec and my 38 snub (which I also sometimes carry) to show him.

He knew the Petit family and was scared to death by what had happened--he lives not far away.

He wanted to know all about carry guns and permits.....

Dr petit was attacked in his home, in his bed, by two men with a baseball bat.....would a firearm have made a difference? I don't know, but I know I want to at least have a chance at defending myself.

Now--this goes on. A few months later, two women were attacked as they had coffee on Sunday morning. A woman went over to her friends house for morning coffee on an ordinary day. A recently released convict was hanging around and saw her. He kicked in the front door--shot one in the stomach and kidnapped the other. Then he stole the car, and dragged the woman with him.

She was found in the dirt--murdered later in the day. The police had been looking for her all day, and had a description of the shooter and the car.

This is true--read it here: http://www.topix.net/content/cbs/2008/03/missing-womans-body-found-after-ct-home-invasion

Two nice women having coffee at home in broad daylight--attacked and one killed--randomly.

Then, a few months after that, an elderly man was attacked in his home and killed....for the cash on hand and his car.

This is happening repatedly to normal people in average neighborhoods.

No liberal anti-gunner is going to convince me that it can't happen to me, or that the police will save me if I am attacked. Its clear the police could not have done a thing about what happened in the above situations....
