Military service
United States Air Force Medic for 24 years, 3months, 19 days! Loved every day "Wearin' the Blue"! Retired Master Sergeant. Specialized in orthopaedics. Stationed Keesler AFB, Biloxi MS 1973-1980; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska 1980-1983; Lackland AFB, San Antonio,Tx 1983-1990 and again 1991-1995; Osan AFB, Korea 1990-1991 (12 months); Tyndal AFB, Panama City, Fla 1995-1997. That last one was a tough assignment, but somebody had to do it!
Assigned to the first Medical Rapid Deployment Force (RDF1) during Operation Just Cause in Panama 1989. Just happened to be the weapons courier for our flight and got to carry a sidearm (S&W Model 15 .38 Special) in addition to issuing M16's to each team member. An unheard of privilege (?) for an Air Force medic.
I enlisted with the attitude that I wouldn't serve one day past four years. Yeah, right! Took me 24 years to come to my senses. Been out ten years now, & still learning how to be a civilian again.
THANKS EVERYONE who's served or still serving. You are each and every one a true citizen of this wonderful republic! May God bless you all!
