Who do you Admire? Idol /hero?
Is there anybody you look up to? Heres mine.....

Preston Thomas Tucker (September 21, 1903 – December 26, 1956) was an American automobile designer and entrepreneur.
He is most remembered for his 1948 Tucker Sedan, an automobile which introduced many features that have since become widely used in modern cars. Production of the Tucker '48 was shut down amidst scandal and controversial accusations of stock fraud on March 3, 1949.

John Zachary DeLorean (January 6, 1925 – March 19, 2005) was an American engineer and executive in the U.S. automobile industry, most notably with General Motors, and founder of the DeLorean Motor Company.
He was most well known for developing the Pontiac GTO muscle car, the Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac Grand Prix, and the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car, which was later featured in the 1985 film Back to the Future, and for his high profile 1982 arrest on charges of drug trafficking. The alleged drug trafficking was supposedly an attempt to raise funds for his struggling company, which declared bankruptcy that same year. He successfully defended himself against the drug trafficking charges, showing that his alleged involvement was a result of entrapment by federal agents.

THEODORE ORNAS, (???- March 14, 2009) was head of Future Vehicle Design at International until he retired in 1980. He worked on many truck designs including the 1953 R Model, the 1957 A Line, Sightliner, and the 1969 D Line Light Duty Line. But Ted is most well known for his "kitchen table sketch" of what was then to become the new 1961 Scout.
Theres one more but i cant find a pic or info..... A certain JwPhillips.....
The original Medusa cylinder design came from the bench of gunsmith Jonathan Phillips, a computer specialist for NASA and a former competition shooter, who used to regularly carry 12 to 15 guns of different calibers to the range every time he went to shoot.
Knowing that the calibers he shot the most–.38, 9mm and .357–were all the same size, he decided there had to be a way to minimize the number of guns he had to own. Phillips (who’s the cofounder of Phillips & Rodgers) took two years to fashion the first working prototype and patent it.

Wow, I never knew tucker made a "combat car" looks like it could hold its own even today!!!
YouTube - Tucker Combat Car
Before the ill-fated Tucker automobile, Preston Tucker joined forces with Indianapolis legend, Harry Miller to build a lightweight and fast combat car. Using their experience at Indy they created an armor plated speed demon that could reach 115 mph while its three machine guns pumped out 2900 rounds a minute. Unfortunately, the government never bought the remarkable car but they did like his 360 degree machine gun turret. The turret was ended up in PT boats, landing craft and on B-17 and B-29 bombers.

Trez, I truly admire Tucker. Have you ever seen the movie "Tucker: The Man and His Dream"? Great movie. I'd love to own a Tucker car. There are still some out there.
Who do I admire? My Mother. She was wise, logical, patient, funny, kind, open minded and she loved her children fiercely.
As for any public figure, I think I'll keep that quiet, for fear of getting banned.

People make me sad every time this topic comes up.
My 2 are
My Father
and
My Stepfather
Both are hard working dependable and honest to a fault. They would give you the shirt off their back and help you in any way they can. We put families up in travel trailers many times. We would go and help you build stuff around your house. If we had tools that you needed to use we would loan them to you. If you were broke down on the side of the road we would stop and see if we could help.
You only have 1 family everyone else is a stranger who doesn't care about you.

Hero
Would have to be my maternal grandfather ....Paw paw. He was orphaned at an early age, sent to live with foster family(s) .This was during the depression ,most of the familys only wanted a field hand, They wouldn't feed him ....most of the time ,I cant imagine how he felt at 6yrs old, watching others eat ,seeing the stock being fed,go to bed hungry. It had to have been bad ,so bad that he and the foster familys own son ran away, hopped a train out of Farmersville Texas .A hobo at 9 yrs old .....rode trains , worked ,did what he had to do to survive .Arrived in California.....worked his way back to Dallas Tx. At 16 yrs old ...and a forged age /signature bought his first saw dust beer joint just off Harry Hines ...what old timers called ''The Circle''. He was tough ,honest ,made no apologies if he was right ,gave respect if it was warranted. He hated cheats, braggarts, and most of all a hypocrisy. Calvin C. Etley was my ''Paw Paw '' and my first friend. P.O.W.G.
