What the hell is a "Whisket afficianado"?

Bourbon is like a brand name and not a definitive style of Whiskey, plenty of Whiskey's made outside the area can taste like Bourbon just not labeled as Bourbon.

Also Whiskey Advocate has a good website that provides reviews and average costs.

Not true. The unique lime stone low iron natural water found in Ky just makes a better whiskey. The word Bourbon does insure that you are buying a quality product. There is a reason that whiskey drinkers have preferred Ky Bourbon over just whiskey for more than 200 years.

Jack Daniels has always been on the table for me.

Maker's Mark is my spirit of choice. They recently announced that they would dilute their product 2-3% due to shortages. Apparently the sentiment against that from folks like myself caused them to reverse their decision.

Good thinkin', I'll keep drinkin'

Sure but even exporting water, corn, yeast from KY to NY and doing the stilling in NY means you can't label it Bourbon.

It's a magazine, not a book.

It doesn't tell you what to like, it just gives you the opinions of a few real harecore whiskey afficianados, and reports on small distillers that you might never have heard of.

Barnes and noble carries it here/.

Think bourbon can only be made in Kentucky? You’re not alone. The fact is, however, any state in the union can make bourbon.

They make bourbon in Texas as a matter of fact.
