For the sake of proper terminology...the M16 is not a gun. It is a rifle.
The first actual gun I fired was the M109A6 Paladin.
Nice hardware! Never got to fire a howitzer but the Army sure did supply me with lots of temporary ownership of boomers! for years as an Anti Armor Platoon Sgt, I was signed for 4 TOWS, 2 Mk 19s, 2 50 Cals, 4 Saws, 8 M16's, 4 Pistols, 6 Hummers, and a crapload of other toys and tools. I had a chance to fire all of them lots of times but only a couple TOWS, (live rounds were scarce and reserved for gunners).

That'd be my dream. I got a surprisingly good 243 Remington 770.

Damn right! Bravo Battery 1/40th FA for basic training and AIT, and Bravo Battery 2/5th FA after graduation. You know how we do it! There are only 2 types of soldiers. Artillerymen and everyone else.

My Remington 1100 was a high school graduation gift. Still have it.
