Where can I shoot?
I live in Washington State. I was told by someone that I can go out on to a Forest service road and as long as there are no "no shooting" signs, it is ok to discharge your firearms. Anyone know if this is ok? I haven't been shooting for a long time, so I'm not sure if that would be ok or not. I tried to look up the state laws, but I have not been able to confirm what I was told.

I live in Michigan, and I checked the DNR website to locate approved shooting areas.
I would bet to be sure the DNR in Washington has the same program for shooting. Also, do a web search for public shooting ranges in your area. I found 5 places near me where I can shoot. |
The best thing you can possibly do is ask your local law enforcement. Laws can/will vary from place to place, so it is best to ask them.

Are there any ranges near you? I would look into that if I were you. |
Call the local cop shop and ask. Be sure to write down the date, time and name of the person you speak to if they say it's OK to shoot in a particular area. It might come in handy if a cop shows up to chat while you're shooting.

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like the thing to do is to call the sheriff and see what they tell me.
The laws are so much more strict since I last time I was using firearms regularly. |
