A bullet lies near a 'pen gun' on a desk at the premises used by Coke and Kadena for their 'James Bond-style' operation

Two men who made ‘James Bond-style’ lethal weapons in a ‘homemade gun factory’ have been jailed.

Scotland Yard says that 40-year-old Paul Coke and 26-year-old Fatmir Kadena operated a weapons factory disguised as a nightclub and car repair garage under a railway arch in the East London area of Leyton, producing firearms including a ‘pen gun’ and ‘key-ring gun’.

A judge at Snaresbrook Crown Court sentenced Coke to 14 years and Kadena to nine years, Scotland Yard said.

Coke, 40, of Ilford, Essex, and Kadena, 26, of Waltham Forest, east London, were found guilty last Friday of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition with intent to enable others to endanger life.

The court was told that Coke was in jail in America for firearm offences before he was deported to England.

Police said the pair worked out of two lock-ups in Leyton, east London, which they passed off as a makeshift nightclub and car repairs garage.

But they were using the premises to convert imitation and blank-firing handguns into live weapons, to be sold on for up to £1,000.

Detectives raided one of the lock-ups beneath a railway arch on Tilbury Road on May 11 last year following an operation by officers from Trident, which specialises in gun crime.

Armed police smashed down the reinforced steel entrance to the gun factory and found a rave in full swing.

Paul Coke was spinning records and claimed he rented out the railway arch to throw parties for Jamaican Yardies.

Beyond the bar, pool table and fruit machines, detectives found the unlicensed venue crammed with firearms and ammunition.

A total of nine guns were recovered, including a Browning self-loading pistol, a Kimar Model 85 self-loading pistol, a ‘British Bulldog’ brand revolver, an ‘American Double Action’ brand revolver, an air pistol, and a 5,000-volt stun gun.

The ‘pen gun’ was discovered inside a cardigan pocket, and the ‘key-ring gun’ was hidden on a ceiling beam.

Police said the ‘James Bond-style’ weapons were ‘lethal-barrelled’ and capable of firing ammunition.

CCTV cameras set up to monitor the lock-ups helped to secure convictions against the pair, with footage showing Coke concealing one weapon in a pool table.

Sentencing the pair today, Judge Tudor Owen said: 'The intention for which you possessed the firearms and ammunition was to enable others to use them to endanger life.

'The gravity of gun crime cannot be exaggerated. The public are entirely and understandably very concerned about the number of guns which are readily available.

'Guns kill, maim, terrorise and intimidate. That is why criminals want them and why they use them. That is why criminals like you possess them for sale or hire on the black market.

'Too many lethal weapons are too readily available, too many are carried, too many are used with devastating effects on individual victims and with insidious and corrosive impact upon the wellbeing of the local community.'

Detective Constable Dan Bryant, of Trident, said: ‘This was a highly organised operation whereby Coke and Kadena were converting and modifying firearms, doubtless with the sole intention of selling them on to those intent on committing serious crime.

‘They were dangerous and ruthless individuals, content in the knowledge they were producing deadly weapons in order to line their own pockets and I am pleased that today's result reflects the danger their actions posed to the wider community.

‘Trident is committed to tackling all aspects of gun crime and will continue in its determination to bring those who profit from it to justice.’

Four other men arrested in connection with the investigation were acquitted last week.

When there's a will there's a way. I don't know when, if ever, the libs will learn that gun control doesn't protect anyone but the criminals who don't care about following the laws anyway.

If the feds somehow stole my firearms away without me having a chance to give them the bullets first, i'd be working on multiple zip guns by the next day.
