Default whats easier on the wallet?

well tonight im going to my local wally world after i pick up my bro from work. my main intention is to check out a centerfire rifle. what im curious is what round is cheaper, the .223 or the .270. the reason i ask is cuz they have a remington 700 in .270 and i kinda like the way its put together plus ive always heard good about the 700 action. now i know JD isnt too fond of'em but hey. so my main thing is that i dont want to have to spend a fortune to play with her...... i need help

A .223 would be my suggestion. The .270 rounds will add up. There are .223's buildt on the 700 action for about the same cost. I would do a little more shopping around before settling on the .270. Don't get me wrong, I own both but for a plinking gun the .223 is the way to go.

You sure that Remington is not a 770? The 770's have gotten bad reviews, and I've seen a bunch at the Walys. I don't think there's much a diff in price in the .223 or .270, unless you go with the abundant corrosive .223 (you should stay away from them). I've been thinking about getting a Marlin XL7 series in .270 or .30-06. Good reviews on the gun and 'round $300.00. Jmo, death.

im pretty sure it was a 700. im mainly going to use it for longer range groundhog hunting and maybe yote hunting. so the most paper time it will have is when i get it sighted in

As of an hour ago, the gun store where I work is selling reloaded .223 for 41 cents a round when you buy a 100 round bag and with the way things are going this could have changed already. Factory loaded .223 ammunition is going for $10.00 for 20 rounds. In my opinion if you can find it, .223 would be cheaper to shoot than .270, although, I could be wrong.
