Yes, steel cut oats are the best but they take a half hour or so to cook. And when I'm hungry in the morning, that's a long wait. I put cinnamon and honey in my oatmeal.

I rarely use instant oatmeal but I do use the Quaker Old Fashioned Oats which is the next best thing to steel cut. And it only takes about 5 minutes to cook.

That's my backup as well. I just rarely cook them fully so they have some texture.

Started out with left over grilled chicken with a little rice before I left the house and just got back from having a Bacon Bloody Mary.

Is there any other kind? The cost of real maple syrup isn't too bad if you look at store brands. They're usually NAFTA Canadian products, damned Canuks, but I'm pretty sure their sugar maples are the same as the ones in New England.
