I had the 1995 geo prizm version of the corolla; they were all made at the old NUMMI plant, the ones for sale in the US anyway. I understand the new ones are made in MS. Even at 6'1-2" and 200+ pounds, I loved that little car; it was just like my old beetle, but with a fifth gear and electric windows and a non-leaking sunroof. Mine was the "sportier" 1.8 liter version, lsi.

I once left Memphis and drove across Arkansas to Texarcana on less than a full tank of gas.

He accomplished his goal: we had enough fun that we didn't want to risk loosing it, and our driving skills rapidly improved to the point we were safe.

One of the scarier moments of my life, was when the hydraulic line for the clutch burst when I was sitting in a left hand turn lane. I was suddenly launched into a major intersection, at opposition to the traffic flow. Luckily i didn't crash into anyone and the cop who witnessed it new enough about cars to believe me that it was a mechanical failure.

One of funniest was when I had it stripped down and in primer, so all the trim was off, and you couldn't tell it from an Alpine. A kid in a Mazda sedan pulled up next to me and started revving his engine. He was shocked when all he saw was tail lights.

i did, but I was trying to be nice and not bring it up. I kind of figured he meant 283 myself. Most folks remember their first car, and you have to figure about half of them are not gearheads.

1971 Mustang red coupe.

Bought the car when I was 14 years old from an insurance company, the old mustang had been side swiped by a semi and totaled.

A new drivers side front fender, door, and rear quarter panel, new paint, along with a set of Craigers she was ready to roll....Oh yeah and the Pioneer Super Tuner amped equalizer with six speakers!

It was quite a project, couldn't have done without Dads help,we had it on the road right before I turned 16.

A 1947 Plymouth 4 door sedan in excellent original paint (black) and interior shape. Flat-head 6, all original. It was originally a R. C. M. P. Highway patrol car. Had 190,000 miles on it. I paid $75 for it and drove it to school all my Jr. year.

I bought a 1957 Pink and white Ford, that my Dad recomended from another superviser where he worked. I paid $200, drove it 60 miles and the transmission failed. Got it fixed, but needed transport while it was being fixed, so I bought a 1959 Renault Dauphine for $50 from a neighbor. It needed a starter, and the quote for a new starter was $400. Not worth it for a car whose value fluctuated with the amunt of gas in the tank. I went through about 40 junkyards looking for a starter for that POS, never found one. When I got the Ford back I sold it for $50 to a guy who though [U]he[U] could find a starter.

Took a month to get the Ford back because a buddy did it in his spare time. He worked for AAMCO and rebuilt the trans for $100. It would have cost about $250 for AAMCO to do it.

It worked out but both cars were POS. The Ford was big and slow and could pass nothing, including gas stations. Gas was cheap, but this tank got about 6 mi to the gallon with a 289 and a Holly 2 bbl carb. I was glad to get rid of that too. Went off to school in Alabama, and was damned if I was going to try and drive that 1000 miles.

A '93 dodge 2500 flatbed single cab that used to be a mine truck here. It had a 360 v8 and 5 speed granny transmission.... I killed it after 6 months along with my next 3 vehicles

I wish I still had that truck
