What are you doing for Memorial Day?
That's a canebrake
LOADED QUESTION!
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (on May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

To me, it is a day to give thanks to my Father
(1919-1998) for his heroic service 1943-1945 and returned to permit me to experience the fruits of his service.
To myself for carrying my own water and return safely to my family where my service and that of my Dad eliminated the need for my three sons to go to war. (None during their age cycle.)
And it is equally important that we recognize those gallant souls that were not as fortunate as us who destiny has smiled upon.
This Memorial Day weighs heavy on me because of the forces at play which is hell-bent on changing this beloved country of mine! There seems to be a disdain rather than a celebration of those who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice.
They (you know who they are) seem to be embarrassed, and find the need to apologize for us enjoying our earned freedoms. This is because they would
never have the mettle to dirty their hands to assist in the continuation of our American Heritage.
Guilt is a very powerful force!
“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” - Eric Arthur Blair (George Orwell)
This is a photo of G W Bush at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France on May 27, 2002. His Memorial Day visit was just eight short months after 9/11!
The same cemetery BHO refused to visit, as POTUS because he didn’t want to embarrass the Germans and doing so, slapped the face of every US Soldier ever to wear the uniform! (BASTARD!)

This is a scant few look at the hallowed ground we honor around this globe. The only territory we claim from those countries in which men in the US Uniform have fallen.
We have a monumental battle before us gentlemen, the taking back of our American Heritage.
We are up to the task, we have done it before and it will be done over and over again long into the future. It Must!
I am proud to be counted as one of you in this FTF Band of Brothers.
And that’s what I’m doing for Memorial Day! God Bless our country and be safe out there!
