I figure if someone shot at me with a .45 from 10 yards, I would jump out of the way of the bullet!!

One I always heard when I was a young man was if you got hit by a 5.56 round in your leg or some other part of your body it would tumble around inside you, tearing up all your internal organs and come out somewhere else well away from the point of entry.

Also heard if you are mall security you should always wear 2 trauma plates taped to your back to stop mall snipers from killing you as you walk out to your car at the end of your shift!
