Where does one get an application and who does this hypothetical person need to bribe to see that it is approved?

The freight company I work for is begging people to transfer to Texas, and is offering big bonuses if you stay for 18 monthes. I think they are losing guys to the oil patches faster than they can replace them.

Old joke around here: Please don't tell my mom I work in the oil field, she still thinks I play piano in a whorehouse.

i have worked in the oilfield industry as a mechanic. i refuse to ever work in the oilfield industry ever again. most fickle industry i have ever worked in. one month it's booming, the next it's not. it always was feast or famine for me.

i now work in an equipment rental business and we do supply some eqipment to different type of oilfield companies. closest i ever want to be to the oilfield industry again!

No photos for you's, but here's a short rundown:

Prof. Landscaper. Exterior and interior.

Liquid fuels const. and maint. Think building gas stations, fuel depots, airport facilities.

Owned plastic injection molding co.

Prof. Capt. running yachts.

Managing commercial lab supply co.

Managing a couple of retail sciences stores (tied in with above).

Mine sampling lab. Twice. 1980's and currently.

There's more, but I'd have to think about it.

Axxe, I remember back in the '80's, a popular bumper sticker was:

Don't tell my momma I work in an oil patch. She thinks I'm playing piano in a whorehouse.

Kinda says it all about the job, eh?
