Maybe greatest is different than most accurate war movie.

Favorite: saving private Ryan or platoon or Band of Brothers.

Accurate: Black Hawk Down or Band of Brothers.

BOB had the big advantage of being a series instead of a movie. Damn I need to watch it again.

Interesting! I'm watching "Patton" right now, and "The Longest Day" is next... followed by "Tora! Tora! Tora!"

I would have to say my FAVORITE war movie was "We Were Soldiers."

1 movie I would add to the list even though it is science fiction is Battle Los Angeles.
Agree mostly with the above but add: D day (1963?) and Enemy at the Gates. Although I really liked Kelly's Heroes and watched it many, many times, I don't really put that on the same plane as Band of Brothers.

Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory. It is a wonderful movie and one of Kubrick's finest works.

Das Boot, another great flick.

M*A*S*H was a good movie.

Great choices!
I will have to add The Deer Hunter as well.
