I would hold off spending the money unless you know what you want. If you know what you want, why are you still here, get your butt down there and get it, and don't forget the ammo, and maybe a holster or some kind of case to keep it in.
If you don't, go to your LGS/LGSs and handle as many as you can. Once you have narrowed it down, do your due diligence and find out all you can about them. If possible, go to your local range and rent the ones you're interested in to get a feel for how they are. In the meantime, you could be saving a little extra for the accoutrements.
