Default Weekenders , they're back !

Wow , what a day ! With the warmer weather , we have all these little get-a-ways and hunting camps scattered all around these parts . To day is kinda windy and not the kind a day to have an unattended camp fire .

We have all kinds of people come to relax and just get away from the job , city , whatever . One of these groups came earlier this afternoon and they got a nice little place about two hundred yards or so from my place .

I almost lost my house to today ! That fire burned within maybe a hundred feet from my house before we got it under control . The forest is a hard wood forest so it does not burn to quickly . Scattered through out the forest , Hemlock , Spuce and other conifers are the ones that spred fast . This is where the problem is . It does not much to ignite a wooden structure . Lucky for me , I have two water hoses , each 50 or so feet long . Everyone in the nearby neighborhood jumped in to help best they could . It was good enough and nobody lost anything of importance so , I guess it ended up as well as possible .

When we where done , nobody had much to say and not the happiest faces . It had burned maybe a good two acres before we got it out . I,m tire . Gonna relax and get mellow or maybe play with my sword . Get my mind on what almost happened.

Glad things worked out OK, about 9 yrs ago my closest neighbor let a fire get away from him twice in one week, the second fire he went to bed and left his 8 and 10 year old kids to watch it. needless to say we were awakened at 1 a.m. with the forestry dept and the fire dept with the fire about 50ft from my house. I almost went to jail that night I was so mad. Then 3yrs ago we were awakened again about midnight, this time the fire got away from him again, but this time he burnt his own house down.
