50 degrees at the range this morning. Not too bad unless you count in the 30 MPH winds. Really felt COLD.

going to be "cold" today in Phoenix. 62 to 68 is the high and I will be going cruising to the car show in my 69 Charger (the heater and A/C work!)

I'm gloating. I remember all of those 55 years living in MN when I was A-hole deep in snow and ice and have daily "highs" of 12 degrees BELOW ZERO!

You guys can GLOAT at me, when I am sitting (huddling) in my A/C in JUN, JUL, AUG when it is 107 to 120 !!

Hope you all survive, have coffee, water, food, wood to burn, and a back up generator for that furnace. GOOD luck.
'
PS. I still have my generator from MN days. enough to run the furnace and refridgerator.

Golf vacation there (Scottsdale) a few years back and the coolest it got was 112.
Got back home and my buds were on me because I was talking about how how it was. They would mostly say "don't bitch, it's a dry heat"
I told them to heat their oven to 116 and stick their head in for four and a half hours. That's a dry heat tool.
It's warmed up to 17 here in Oklahoma today.

yep... like I said.... EVERYTHING is a compromise!

houses out here SUCK too. even the 600K ones!!

plumbing is in the slab and they always crack and leak. 2 K to 10K to fix a slab leak depending on the slab, etc.

walls are made of (if you are lucky) 1/2 inch stucco on top of chicken wire, maybe some tyvec, and the cheapest glued plywood crap about 1/2 inch thick,
MAYBE some insulation, and the windows are AZ rattlers (they rattle in the wind)

I'll bet I could shoot my air rifle through the wall!!

but hey....I'm NOT in 9 MONTHS of WINTER either like I was in MN. with the gov't and all those leftists blowing smoke up my behind.

The low dipped below zero less than a week ago, sheet of ice yesterday, windier than a chili eating contest winner's bathroom last night, high in the sixties tomorrow.

My house is 2x6 outside walls with full insulation and foam board under the stucco. Windows are double pane with insulated covers inside. Sun screens outside in the summer. I have 5KW solar on the roof. 16 sear heat pump. My electric bill is between $200 to $300 a year. Was under $200 but they raised the service fee. Right now is my highest usage because of winter cloud cover.
