Secondly, so you ascribe ZERO humanity to the zombies/walkers? It's their little flashes of humanity that keep me watching closely.
There are some good "humanity" moments in the book series that Kirkman and Jay Bonasinga are writing. They give the back stories of the Governor, and some of the others such as Martinez and Lily. Well worth checking into if you read the comics, or watched the series. I will warn that they are based on the comics.
There is a part in the first book, The Rise of the Governor, where Phillip Blake levels a pistol on a LEO zombie trapped in the patrol car by it's seat belt. Every time he aims at the zombie, it cringes at the sight of the gun. When he lowers the gun, it tries to get ahold of him. Goes on for a couple minutes before he caps the corpse.
And yes, I do see some of the little glimpses of humanity with the walkers. I still LOL about the one girl in Ep. 1 seeing a name tag on one of the walkers and naming the other ones. Priceless.
Is it better to do the right thing for the wrong reason, or to do the wrong thing for the right reason? If you do the wrong thing for the right reason, is it still the wrong thing?
Si vis pacem para bellum.
There are two ways of doing something. Right and again.
If you can't be good, be great at it.
