Would you let someone with/without a gun approach you? Wouldn't that start to defeat the advantage of having a gun? Especially if they were bigger and stronger than you and your old friend?
Yes, I heard that as well...
Hershel was wrong on that. I supported the kids shot as the BG had plenty of chance to comply...
Once again, they were not exactly working security detail at a parking lot carnival...no room for bad choices!

I think you are correct on the "put it down".

When stressed by zombies and saddled with geezers, I probably would have shot the kid, when I was 9 or 10. Nowadays, I would've given an additional command to drop the firearm followed by the sound of something or someone hitting the ground.

carl did the right thing. they both told him to drop it and he just sat there looking like an idiot holding the gun. plus, the guy was just in the prison trying to shoot them all. couldnt be trusted.

He was told to drop his weapon. Herschel's exact words were "drop the weapon son" I believe.

I caught that and thought the same thing.

I seen the kid moving toward Ricks son in an attempt to get closer to attack. Someone is holding a gun on you and says drop the gun you drop the gun. Or you draw and die or he dies.

What I don't understand is why Ricks people weren't driving the HMMWV left behind with the 50 up to the prison so they could use it. Don't give me well it had flat tires. HMMWV's have rubber or metal run flats in them so you could at least move it up to the prison.

Me I would have lured them all into the prison locked them in there then torched the place. That's me I'm a tad ruthless.

I agree about the guy with Rick's kid. He should have set the gun down, not said "here, take it". To me that was drawing him closer so he could attack him or try to take his gun.
