I can see you sitting back, drawing on your pipe between chuckles taking it all in.

Wow. And you live to tell about it. I'm impressed.

It looks like the Dad put this child an a ledge meant as a 'spacer' for the monkeys. I think this monkey might have felt a little 'closed in on' by having this child so close. But still, it was kind of funny.

Not good, the mother is incredibly stupid, but I still feel horrible for the mother and father.

I agree. I feel very sorry for the parents....and the child. I see a lawsuit against the zoo. And most likely a win for the parents even though it is very stupid to put your child on top of the railing that divides visitors from the animals.

In my opinion the mother was just as irresponsible as if she had handed her kid a loaded firearm. Here in CA that is prosecutable. Not saying she should be prosecuted because she killed her kid (I am not heartless) but to multiply the tragedy by making the zoo pay for her stupidity would be wrong as well. If found responsible the zoo should spend any fines on improvements to the enclosure (and any others) that would prevent this from happening again. That having been said I do not think that the zoo should have to pay a settlement to the family.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the zoo does get sued and has to pay a settelment.
