I was looking for a distress signal myself. I couldn't bring myself to post an American flag upside down. So instead I looked at distress signals used by the merchant fleet.
But then I decided, screw distress signals. I'd rather put up a Gadsden flag.
I'm not under distress, I'm minding my own business until someone steps on me or mine.

I don't think those offend any veterans at all or anyone else here for that matter. I've never had a complaint about those as I have about the upside down flag.

Well golly gee. I've been offended by several avatars, and have used several offensive avatars.

This is only the second time I'm aware of any actual complaints.

I did report a guy's screen name once. Because it belongs to a swinger's forum. It didn't even offend me, I just thought the mods would like to make a judgment call on "hornyoldguy".

Because those two flags are not the American flag. Those two flags are American patriotic flags used in the Revolutionary war .

You can display it as you like, as for me I do feel it is a sign of disrespect.
I have carried caskets that The Flag has draped, I will honor it as I honor my fallen brethren.
You do as you wish.
That's all I got to say about that.

One of the caskets I carried that had The Flag draped on it was my little sister. I also will honor it.

I can see both sides of the argument. I can definitely see how it can be seen as disrespectful, but I also can see that the people who are using it to represent the distress America is in today do not mean for it to be disrespectful.

I agree, there are probably better ways to express how we feel about the state of the country.
