Turnaround time ? ? ?
What do yáll think is an appropriate turnaround time for a simple Gunsmithing project. I'm talking a 5 min job if you have the tools.
I'm on a roll with a certain project and needed a press for one small part. I took the gun in Monday and haven't got the "ready" call yet. Last night the kid at the store made a comment that got me thinking. He said: "Hopefully, he should get it done this week." That really threw me for a loop??? I thought I'd get some opinions before I ask for the gun back, done or not. . .

It probably depends on how many other jobs he has before your came in to be done.

I waited 'till "this week" with the understanding that it would be worked on right away. . . otherwise I'd have called someone else. . .

Next time I would be more firm on a time table. I've made that mistake in the past.

I hear you. . . I guess I made the 'ol assumption goof-up. Now would it be rude to ask for the gun back by the morning, done or not?

Depending on setup, I may keep a couple of jobs hanging around.
Setup, tear down, setup, tear down, etc... takes time that I could use for other things.
Setup, do 3-4 jobs, tear down is just business.

What kind of 5 min. job?
We do lots of same day stuff for people and our accounts, If it makes people happy they will generally be back again.
Best of luck my friend.
