Default Top 10 Percent of Wage Earners

I was listening to Rush this afternoon and in his commentary he implied that if you make more than 50K a year you are in the top 10% of all wage earners. That's crazy! Trying to verify it.

He was probably referring to this publication

National Average Wage Index

It was just revised a few days ago. My gal is in compensation for a big company so she stays up on this sort of thing. Lots of factors go into this "income" though, as with all "stats", so it's kind of mirky to get a solid, fixed number.

Hope that helps.

Well, the wiggle phrase there may be "wage earner"- as opposed to income. Interest, dividends, rents, welfare, unemployment, ADC, Social Security, yada yada yada may not be counted as wages.

Here is data from Wiki on US income- be sure to distinguish between household and individual-

Mark Twain said: "There's lies, damn lies and statistics."
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”Samuel Adams
