I can't believe anyone would text and drive, what with all the people who signed Oprah's pledge promising not to do it.

Too true! The question I have is if they are too stupid to realize it's really dangerous, will they obey a law that says: "Hey! That's really dangerous! Don't do it or we will fine you" Like others on this thread have commented, long before texting, I saw people en route to work reading paperbacks and newspapers on the steering wheel with the car moving, women applying makeup in the rear view mirror while moving, mothers delivering an ass-whuping with a shoe to kids in the back seat while zipping down the road. As someone once said: "You just can't fix stupid.' However, texting and cell phones have really added another level to the distractions. And it's almost universal. Having a beer in you behind the wheel will get you in serious trouble. Texting? Not so much. Why? Maybe because "everyone does it." Go figure!

My mother had perfected this one while keeping her eyes on the road. I was a bit of a "problem child", and it happened on a regular basis. Practice, practice practice. Lol.
