I knew I was close, just walked out to the parking lot and checked.

Ford. Unlike a lot of back and forth on this thread, I've never pulled any Dodges or Chevys out of the ditch......
.....I just let them sit there

We went window shopping today and found an '04 Avalanche for around $12k. It has around 96k miles on it. I didn't get a chance to test drive it since they were already closed. We're going back tomorrow though. They have other trucks in our budget but this is the one we are both most excited for. I've always liked the looks of them. My wife's former step-dad used to have one and as a result wifey has always liked them.

Appreciate all the help and advice from everyone.

We bought the '04 Avalanche today.

Test drove it yesterday. Everything seems great with it. Very smooth ride.

I'll post pics when I can. But for some reason I usually can't from my phone.

Congrats on the new ride, they look pretty cool. I am a ford guy by default, both granddad, and favorite uncle retired from ford. Show up at Thanksgiving dinner in a Chevy and you are perma-banned to the kids table.

Shhhh!!! Don't tell anybody but my daily driver is a Buick, I drive my ford pickup when I might run into my uncle. (Granddad passed a few years ago.)

Now that I can upload photos to the forum again, here ya'll are. Our new [to us] '04 Chevy Avalanche.

Yup, she's already dirty. Been driving the snot outta her. Plus there's a lot of dirt roads back here.

I'll be taking her to NC on Saturday. I have a reserved a 4'x8' uHaul trailer for the move. The smallest one they have, and honestly I don't even know if it will be necessary. But I reserved it just in case.

Thanks again for all the feedback everyone. Hope you all like your trucks as much as I like mine.

Nice looking truck. What size motor does that Avalanche have?

Thanks. Its a 5.3L V8.

Been pulling a small uHaul trailer all day. Oklahoma to Tennessee, so far. I'm very pleased with the performance of the truck.

Of course, its a tiny trailer. But the truck didn't seem to notice it had anything attached to it at all.

I pull a 6300 lb. boat up and down from Lake Tahoe with relative ease from my 5.3 Vortex motor in a 1/2 ton, 4X4, P/U. With the 3.73 gear set I have 9600 lbs. tow capacity. Had several of those 5.3 motors and they run flawlessly while I had them. Whippy little motors too.

Thanks! That's exactly how I feel. I don't much care for the plastic nonsense. I was reading some reviews too and that was one of the things most complained about.
