I keep a survival bag ready to go incase of emergency.

Anyone else do this? What all do you keep in it?

I always want to get around to doing this, but I never do. I have one for the car though. Just the basics, food, blanket, water, flashlight.

What do YOU keep in yours?

I have a basic one as well. What prototype has in the car I also have in the house. But, I'm not really that scarred and don't really see a need for a major one in the house, just a basic one.

The car is way more important. I just have a bunch of stuff in the trunk.

I keep one in my truck at all times. It contains:

emergency rations for one week
chemical lightsticks
flashlight
toilet paper
emergency blanket
first-aid kit
disposable hand warmers
lighter and trioxane tablets
water filter
GPS and GMRS radio, with extra batteries
rain poncho
earplugs
200 rounds of 9mm ammo
parachute cord
pocket knife

I'm sure there's a few more items but I can't think of them right now.

gauze, bandages aspirin, tylenol and motrin. Also consider women's maxi pads (hold lots of blood, MUCH cheaper than a military trauma dressing) and tampons ( perfect size to plug some bullet wounds, absorbs blood and even has a string for easy removal). Remember you will need salt for long term survival.

I pretty much agree with one ofthe fellows here that does the Many different ones for the Van and the carry idea? I like to carry a small E German Bag that has a 1 LTR canteen on that, some Snack Bars, a M-95 Classic BHP clone and 2 mags, a A.G. Russel Boot Knife, a Gerber Multi tol or Leatherman wave, some sutures and steri strips and med gear, some Fish hooks, Drop line and sinkers, some Small 8X20 Bynoculears, a Magnify glass, a larger fold in the butt screwdriver set with small socket attatchemts, SAS Reference book, some Dental floss with Sail needles, some Small playing cards, Small packs of "Clean up" pads, they have Lemon scent so nice to clean up if you have limited water supply! A small sheet of Plastic I can use as a Tarp, Ponco and rain fly!


This is a clone if what I carried as a medic In Iraq and Afgainstan and Has always carried the Day for me! My Van kit as well has these items, as well more tools for the van, More Water and dryed food rations! More 9MM or 45 ammo, a larger Knife, Cook set with Folding heximine stove. A set of Larger Bynoculars, a set of Para cord lenghts. A larger Tarp and Water Filter/Purify rig
